The default binding in WCF is BasicHttpBinding.

  1. It uses HTTP protocol with SOAP 1.1 messaging.
  2. Designed for interoperability with older web services and non-.NET clients.
  3. It provides basic web service functionality without advanced WS-* features like reliable messaging or transactions.
  4. When you create a service endpoint without specifying a binding explicitly, WCF uses BasicHttpBinding by default (especially when hosting in IIS).
